Wellington’s PIC took out the inaugural Netball Central Zone Super Club Invitational Tournament, which took place on Saturday at the B & M Centre, Arena Manawatu, in Palmerston North.

Hawke’s Bay netball players and fans are set for a bumper weekend with the Haier Pulse, fresh from their hard-fought 53-47 victory over the Northern Mystics on Sunday. The programme begins on Saturday 22 March with a number of specialist clinics for developing players, coaches and managers and ends on Sunday with a 2014 ANZ Championship home game.

Netball Central Zone has appointed former New Zealand U21 and Haier Pulse coach Yvette McCausland-Durie as coach of the U23 representative team. The former Silver Fern, who also represented New Zealand at the World Junior Athletics Championships, is vastly experienced at all levels of the game and coached the highly-successful MANUKURA team (previously known as TU TOA) which was crowned national secondary schools champions under her guidance.

Netball Central Zone is excited to announce the launch of the new Super Club Invitational Tournament, which will present another opportunity for the leading Premier Clubs to enjoy some meaningful competition in the build-up to the 2014 season.

Over 40 Netball Central Zone coaches were recently given the unique opportunity to learn from legendary netball coach Yvonne Willering.

Haier Pulse and Silver Fern defender Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit was raised in a Maori speaking household with English as her second language and as a fluent Maori speaker, has never been able to watch elite Netball on television with Maori commentary.

Netball Central Zone held the second of three NZ Talent Development (NZTD) days at Arena Manawatu, in Palmerston North.

Smiths City, one of the country’s leading appliance retailers, has pledged its support for netball by becoming a key sponsor of the Haier Pulse for the 2014 ANZ Championship campaign. The Smiths City logo will appear on the back of the players’ yellow dress in a significant new partnership which will offer new opportunities to Haier Pulse fans.
