With a place in the grand final on the line, it’s a boom or bust situation for Central Manawa against the Northern Comets in the Synergy Hair Netball League in Auckland on Saturday.
It was a pleasure to play Southern Blast in front of our whānau and friends at the Silver Fern Farms Event Centre in Te Aroha.
With the business end of the Synergy Hair Netball League approaching, Central Manawa defender Danielle Tafili has highlighted the personal sacrifice players at this level make, most of which largely go unseen.
Sibling solidarity rose to new levels when Central Manawa netball sisters Salote and Api Taufa shared extended time on the side-lines after both fell victim to the same serious injury at the same time.
Comets came out strong at the start of the match in Auckland and WBOP took time to settle with them chasing the score to finish 10-13 after the 1st Quarter.

This week (Saturday, 2nd April) our ranks were bolstered by the inclusion of WBOP Magic training partner Martina Reekers. Martina played all four quarters. There is always a transition period for athletes playing in two squads and their availability for trainings due to loading and coaches being mindful of the need to balance their programme.
With the view to keeping all her options open, moving to Wellington couldn’t have turned out any better for shooter Grace Namana as she juggles her netball and law careers.
