The capital has, for the second week in a row, reigned supreme with Wellington A Black defeating Auckland 1, 27-21, in the grand final of the Netball NZ U17 Champs this afternoon.

Netball Central coach Yvette McCausland-Durie was proud of her charges, finishing runners-up in the inaugural Beko Netball League.

Central are hoping to take centre stage and turn a faltering dress rehearsal into a winning outcome when they meet South in the inaugural Beko Netball League Grand Final in Auckland on Sunday.

Central is the first side to cement their place in the inaugural Beko Netball League grand final with a strong second half securing their spot in the last two.

Netball New Zealand is pleased to confirm the appointment of Yvette McCausland-Durie to the position of Silver Ferns assistant coach.

International Netball will return to Palmerston North in September when the Silver Ferns host the Jamaican Sunshine Girls in the second Test of the New World Netball Series for the Taini Jamison Trophy.

Netball Central Zone has continued its strong presence at age-group level with five players being named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools (NZSS) team.

Coach Yvette McCausland-Durie has no doubts about the talent assembled in her 13-strong Central Zone squad for the upcoming National Netball League (NNL) where she is aiming for a top three finish.
